Surveillance Support

There are many different shapes and sizes of cameras, depending on what needs to be viewed, and where the camera is being installed.  Below are just a few of the more popular styles.

This is bullet camera.  These camera's are available for indoor and outdoor use.  Often times when used in outdoor applications, they are still placed in outdoor enclosures, keeping them more vandal resistant, secure from being moved as easily.

This is a bullet camera, but has IR (Infrared lights).  This camera is good for area with little or no light.  The IR's will light the area the camera is view up to about 30 feet away.  (The distance is variable depending on the camera and the amount of IR lights).

The is a dome camera.  Dome cameras are used in places that the camera needs to be mounted within reach of the public.  Since they are in a dome enclosure, they cannot be tampered with.  Many dome style cameras have smoked lenses, so the direction of the camera cannot be detected easily.  Dome cameras can also have infrared (IR), as described above.  They also come in indoor and outdoor versions.

This is a Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) camera.  PTZ cameras can pan (move side-to-side), tilt (move up and down), and zoom (can changed the focal point from far away, to very close).  These cameras are more expensive, but they can take the place of multiple cameras, when one area alone does not need 24 hour coverage.  These cameras are often installed in parking areas where there are more than one pedestrian entrance, or to see a face or license number of a car or truck entering or leaving an area.

This is commonly called a "full-size" camera.  They are not used as often as the others listed on this page, because they have settings exposed on the rear of the camera, and the lenses can easily be unscrewed and removed.  These cameras are mainly used inside enclosures (see below), or way out of reach of the public.

Outdoor Enclosure
This is an outdoor enclosure.  These are usually sold as just enclosures, where bullet cameras can be installed inside, for more protection against weather and vandalism.  These enclosures can also be purchased with cameras built-in, and with infrared (IR).  These enclosures are very visible which is another added feature for protection.
